ふ【腑】

〔臓腑〕 the viscera 《sing. viscus》; the bowels.

●胃の腑 the stomach.

腑が抜ける lose all one's strength.

●彼女はその後腑が抜けたようになって, しばらく立つこともできなかった. Following that she seemed to lose all her strength, and for a while she was unable to even stand up.

腑に落ちる 〔合点する〕 understand; comprehend; see; grasp the meaning 《of…》; catch the idea 《of…》; 〔得心が行く〕 be convinced 《of…, that…》; 〈事柄が主語〉 be understandable; be clear; make sense.

●現場へ行ってみて, なるほどと腑に落ちた. After going to see the actual site, I was convinced.

腑に落ちない cannot understand [comprehend, make out] 《a story》; 〈事柄が主語〉 be incomprehensible; be hard to swallow.

●腑に落ちない話 a story hard to swallow

・そのときの彼の対応がどうも腑に落ちなかった. At the time I could not comprehend why he responded as he did.

・腑に落ちないところがある. I have some doubts 《about sb's attitude》.
